Looks like they got the ornaments, too.  They just mentioned the mugs in the notice.  Ah well, thought it was fine what with all the non-official 'Michigan" merchandise.

Devious Journal Entry

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 18, 2017, 9:44 PM
Looks like advertising a little via Tumblr, Google+, and Pinterest has started paying off.  Would like to also use Instagram but I'm on PC and its kind of a proprietary bitch about it.  I got a couple Zazzle sales today, of designs I've never had any sales on before, aaaand a copyright strike when they reviewed the Wolverine Cheerleader mug.  It is, of course, because she's similar to a Michigan Wolverines cheerleader of course, minus the letters.  They haven't picked up on the ornaments yet, tho.

POD Sites

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 8, 2017, 11:39 PM
So Zazzle's last crash that temporarily wiped out a huge chunk of my products (at least those which weren't wiped out by previous updates that I didn't notice until recently) has made me start considering, yet again, other POD sites.  I think I might take the plunge and go with making a store on Etsy and sell products from several linkable POD sites, like Printful.  I'll keep Redbubble, tho - I've gotten the most sales from them, plus they allow my pop art and cater to geeks that are my primary audience.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm also TRYING to get an Instagram account going, but I need an Android emulator to get the app working on my PC, and the site wouldn't even just plain let me log in today. :P  Argh.

Well, Shit...

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 26, 2017, 6:21 PM
Looks like I'll be finding another platform for sharing my art.  I've seen deals like the Wix deal before, and they ALWAYS make promises about things not changing, that they'll leave the purchased site alone but just update software, and that the same protections will remain...and they all inevitably turn out to be lies.  Especially since Wix has publically stated they're going to 'open up the repository of art...' to Wix users to just take for their own uses.

And dA so far is not answering questions adequately, IMO, when they actually answer at all.  Hopefully they will say something tomorrow.

Time to fire up the Instagram account I made, I guess, and transfer the furry art all to FurAffinity finally...

Zazzle 'bout Gave Me a Heart Attack Last Night!

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 17, 2017, 5:00 PM
I've been putting Rainbow Gator on products for the last few days, and last night I got a copyright strike and product removed!

So immediately I emailed back and asked what the actual problem is since its clearly my own design.  Closest I could come was that maybe there was a problem with the name being almost the same as someone else's design name.

Turns out...it was more silly than that.  The product was a 'thermal tumbler', which most people would know as a thermos...but Thermos doesn't like it when people use that in descriptions, or, as I had done, AS A TAG.  Just an effing common word tag that allows people to find your product.
  Crash

I don't know if I'm going to replace the product, but at least now I'm a bit wiser about my tags.

Low-key Christmas

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 12, 2016, 8:15 PM
So so far this holiday season is very low-key for me.  Which is good because I'm battling some throat issues.  No idea what, 'cause I haven't been to the VA recently, but I'm using all the homeopathic and regular over the counter stuff I have, which is working.

I'm sure I've been annoying the neighbors with my foghorn cough, which has finally subsided except when I'm laying down, so I've had some late nights just because of that.  Been watching a lot of movies and Xmas specials on YouTube as a result.

I'd advise against searching for Jack Frost on YT, tho, unless you don't mind wading through tons of (Rise of the Guardians) Jack Frost and Elsa soft to hardcore porn.  I came across that while looking for the Rankin/Bass Jack Frost.  Don't get me wrong, I like RotG and the pairing TOTALLY makes sense...I just got a little tired of wading though 13 pages of it before even getting to 1 R/B video.

And of course I ended up watching RotG on YT last night, too.  I need to get a copy of that movie.

Mousebat Moon

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 19, 2016, 11:50 AM
Ever had a piece of art you made that you like, that you know you didn't sell, that has disappeared for years except for every once in a while when you're not looking for it...only to disappear again when you think you'll remember where you saw it last (because of course you were busy at the time and thus didn't remember)?

That's been my life with Mousebat Moon.  What you see in the gallery is a scan from back when I first got a scanner...back in the 90's so you know it wasn't that good.  And that's why its so small onscreen now.  I want to actually USE the piece for something, 'cause it still kind of stands up and I still like it, but that requires a re-scan, and I can't even seem to find copies of the original.

*sigh* Yeah, I just did another round of all that.  And found a few things I'm going to be uploading later, and one I'm probably going to make products out of.

But I do find more art I forgot about every time I go searching for it, and OTHER things I've been looking for: like the transparencies for Wings of Love, because I inevitably also end up reorganizing my art.

They Went From Spay, To KILL

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 11, 2016, 7:42 PM
For the last year, the Bureau of Land Management has been considering experimental field spaying of wild horses.  Advocates, veterinarians, the Humane Society, and anyone with a conscience have been fighting this incredibly dangerous and inhumane plan.

Well the Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board convened two days ago, and decided not to do it.

So we should be celebrating, right?

They replaced it with something WORSE.
MUCH WORSE.

They're considering mass killing of all the horses THEY have rounded up and put in holding.  45,000 perfectly healthy horses.  Don't get the wrong idea - they aren't going to just shoot them full of drugs, that makes disposal problematic.  They'll either shoot them or send them across the borders to Canada and Mexico for slaughter.

Some of whom they removed JUST so they could claim that 'there are no more horses in this Herd Management Area,' and CLOSE IT TO HORSES, so cattlemen can run their destructive cattle on it for just over $2 a pair.  They didn't just round up horses for emergencies, in some cases they manufactured 'emergencies' by denying the horses access to water via turning off water troughs they themselves had installed (but they were turned on for big game animals!), or installing fencing around water holes, which resulted in deaths and excuses for removal.

The only member of the board who voted against this plan was Ginger Kathrens, filmer of the Cloud documentaries, who just this year was elected to the board as the representative of the American public.  The rest are cattlemen, who stand to profit from the destruction of the Mustang.

Really telling, isn't it. :(

If anyone wants to help, the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign has been the lead in fighting for our mustangs for years, and are accepting donations for this fight, even if you, like me, have only a little bit of money.  You can also donate to the Cloud Foundation.

Guess I forgot to mention here that my wallet turned up.  The second store found it that same day and kept it for me, while I rode the bus to them a couple days later.  It was completely intact, thus not necessitating new IDs.

The new credit and debit cards have arrived in the meantime, too.  And of course my dA Core membership couldn't be paid for this month, so I lost the journal skin, etc. Ah well.

Oh Wallet, Wherefor Art Thou?

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 13, 2016, 4:18 PM
Guess who has to go get a replacement drivers license and credit cards?

Yep, dropped my Zecora wallet somewhere between paying for food in Winco and the time I left Deals Only, and someone picked it up and did NOT turn it in. :(  Must have been a Brony...or they tossed it after taking the cards. :(  There goes my 'too embarrassing for someone to be seen with' theory.  I guess it was just too awesome.  Because it was.

The credit cards have been cancelled and new ones requested, but the IDs have to wait until Monday.  Fortunately my Paypal credit card was in my safe, and I can use that to get at my bank monies - which I'll have to for the drivers license replacement.  Lucky me I have a tiny bit saved up - but like any poor person will tell you, its just because there was some upcoming emergency that was going to take it. :(  The Lane Bryant gift card that still had $30 on it is a loss, tho. :(

I would really like it back with everything inside, universe.  Please?

--Zhora

P.S. - yes, I did retrace my steps, and left my info with the two stores, which is how I know it was taken by someone this time.  Didn't think to check the trash cans until just now, tho.  Luckily all the busses are free next week.

The Resolution - NOT!

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 12, 2016, 9:38 AM
So, I logged in on the 7th, and...

...they didn't cancel my account on the 4th.  Big surprise.  So...on the 7th, I gave them a phone call.  And...it was vaguely odd, just like every other interaction with them.

The person who answered sounded like an elderly woman.  Yeah, she did work for them, it wasn't something like they gave the wrong phone number on their website or something.  She promised to get my account deactivated, but that it would take 72 hours. And she couldn't answer my question about why it would take as long as getting designs approved takes, and where it goes, just that it 'needed to be approved.'  And she offered to send me an email when it was deactivated - which arrived a couple hours later.

So, case/account closed, right?

I think ya know what the answer is.

'Cause today I logged in.

Again I got the elderly sounding lady, who got disconnected after a couple minutes of not being able to explain why I could still log in, so I called back and got a different, younger person, who explained that my *collection* (the thing I didn't make) was deactivated and not seeable by the public, but they need a record of anyone who's been an artist for them and that's why the *account* I made is still active - but its only visible to them and me...without any kind of notice ON the account that tells me its limited or not active.

No, this doesn't make any sense to me, either, 'cause what's so hard about keeping a list of former artists that *doesn't* include keeping all or part of their account active (it didn't have any information other than my name, login, and password because I had to log in to see the contract, uploader, etc while I was deciding whether to use them), but the conversation turned into a back and forth that wasn't getting anywhere, so I thanked the girl and ended the call.

They Finally Answered the Forgotten/Ignored Email

Journal Entry: Mon Jul 4, 2016, 7:39 AM
VIDA answered this morning. An email from 7 days ago.  The same email I thought they ignored.  7 days ago.

In the reply were details about submitting that weren't on the website: like they want a small, low rez image file initially...but you better have a HD one available for when they request it.  The same file I cannot produce with my current setup, WHICH I TOLD THEM IN THE EMAIL THEY WERE REPLYING TO.  They did turn out to have a good reason for the signature, but still didn't answer the 'do I really have to submit my photo' question.

So I replied with 'That should have been clearly detailed on the website.  This is not working for me.  Please cancel my account.'  Which is paraphrasing what I emailed them yesterday, less the statement I made about not liking the changed contract.

*sigh*

Well It *WAS* a Nice Compliment

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 3, 2016, 7:44 PM
But be warned, fellow artists.

The website shopvida.com sent me an email last week, complimenting my art and inviting me to join, based on the furry work on my personal website.  I told them I was flattered, and asked what they offer that's different or better than other print-on-demand services, say better materials?  Which is what they repeated back to me in answer, along with telling me the other services were their competitors.  Like...no shit.

But still they did have a good list of affiliates, and some news sites/blogs had written articles on them (or printed PR statements more likely), so I decided to consider it.

And they bugged me about it two days later.  And then two days after that.  I told them the other sites didn't do this, along with pointing out that I was having health and software problems (their site requires files larger than PS 7.01 is capable of producing, and the file size expander apps/programs I've found won't do it without paying for the full program), and asked a couple questions about their requirement that I give them a photo of me and my signature, as well as a bio.  This email was apparently ignored.

Because I got another email yesterday, asking why I'd signed up but not uploaded anything.  So I asked if they had a timetable I was required to abide by that they hadn't bothered to tell me about, and that if they were expecting me to do what they want without telling me important things like that, we should part ways because they will be disappointed in me.  I also told them that I had been considering using their service for filesizing (they can download image files from an artists' website instead of having it uploaded the normal way, and fix it to where they can use it).

And did I mention that their most recent email had the subject line of 'Account on Hold'?  Yeah, just 10 days after the first nice email!

And then I checked the website again...and noticed the artists contract seems to have changed, to include wording about their rights to print items with my art being 'irrevocable'.  So I emailed them again and have asked for my account and contract to be cancelled.

And I'm really glad I held off uploading anything, including my photo and signature, and any info about my bank.

I'll let you know what they say.

Not quite on speaking terms with a couple of my family members, tho...and yes, the last entry is related to that.

Anyway, I was reading Flayrah this morning, and came across this lovely live action furry film and wanted to share it with all of you (if you haven't seen it yet).  Its actually pretty good despite the limitations of the costumes - kind of like how you've gotta overlook the limitations of Muppet costumes to enjoy the show.  The only thing I didn't like is that it feels like a first episode, and there are no more! :(

Art is Bad for My Health

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 12, 2015, 7:48 PM
...when I spend multiple hours hunched over my tablet making products on Zazzle and forgetting to suck down water and sit up straight every once in a while!  Messed with my blood pressure and gave me vertigo.

I feel better now after mass quantities of water and an extra half-dose of triphala.  So learn from my fail and try not to forget to drink while doing arty stuff!!

It was fun playing with a simple wreath, the one that is part of Frosty the Snowbot, making simple patterns for wrapping paper and other things.  They're most likely too late for this Christmas season, but they'll be there for next year!
